ಕುದುರೆಮುಖ ಚಾರಣ

Kudremukh is one of the finest treks in the Western Ghats: about 20 km there and back across grass-covered hills, past streams and shola groves to a summit shaped like a horse’s face. Expect 7 to 9 hours on the trail with little shade, so a good level of fitness is needed. We handle the forest permit, the jeep to the trailhead and a packed lunch. Carry 2 litres of water, a hat, sunscreen, a rain jacket and shoes with proper grip, and leave plastic behind. Best from October to February; the trail is closed in the heavy monsoon, and the forest department may close it at short notice. Safety: a certified guide leads the group, we turn back if the weather turns, and anyone with heart, knee or breathing problems should choose an easier trail.
